SA Construct · commercial cladding, roofing and facade contractor · Beverley, Adelaide · founded 2011 · Master Builders SA award winner since 2014
We price roofing, cladding and screens for head contractors building stations, car parks and other transport buildings in South Australia. On these jobs the client is usually the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), and the rail and road access rules set much of the programme.
Packages we price for transport work: metal roofing, facade cladding, louvres, fins and screens and roof safety systems
Projects
The builder lets the package. DIT prequalifies head contractors. Its prequalification has no category for cladding, roofing or facades, so a facade trade on a DIT job works under the prequalified builder.
Work near the rail line needs approval first. DIT requires approval before any work in or near the Adelaide train and tram network. Keolis Downer manages access for trains and Torrens Connect issues permits to work for trams. Anyone doing rail safety work must hold a Rail Industry Worker card, and other workers complete a rail safety induction.
The programme follows the access windows. DIT allows no planned work on the network from 6 to 9 am or 3 to 6 pm on business days. Work that needs the trains stopped runs in the After Last, Before First window, and the Seaford, Flinders and Gawler lines run under 25 kV overhead wires. Cranes, lifts and deliveries for a station roof or canopy have to fit those rules.
Road works need a permit. Work on an arterial road needs a permit through DIT's Roadworks Portal, and a crew using traffic control devices needs at least one person with a current workzone traffic management card.

We name a transport project here once its scope is confirmed for publication. Ask us when you send the tender and we will tell you what we have done.

Yes, when the builder's access window needs it. On the rail network, work that needs the trains stopped runs between the last service and the first.
