Capabilities · Commercial aluminium windows and doors
SA Construct is a cladding, roofing and facade contractor based in Beverley, Adelaide, founded in 2011 and a Master Builders SA award winner since 2014.
Commercial aluminium windows and doors are the framed openings in the building envelope: windows and window walls, entrance doors, shopfronts, and the junctions where a curtain wall meets the cladding. We supply and install them as part of the facade package for head contractors. The window frame, its flashings and the cladding around it are one detail, so we draw them on one set of shop drawings and build them in one sequence.
Send the window schedule or call +61 8 7123 0833.
Leaks on a facade usually start where two trades meet, and the most common meeting point is the window. If the window installer and the cladder are separate, the sill tray, head flashing and membrane lap belong to whoever arrives second. When we carry both, the junction is drawn once on our shop drawings, checked against the cladding set-out, and built in the right order. The head contractor deals with one subcontractor for the whole wall and one programme for it.

We have not yet published a project page that features windows or doors. Our projects show the facade packages these openings sit in, and these pages cover the related work:
Questions
AS 2047 covers windows and external glazed doors, including sliding and hinged doors, adjustable louvres, shopfronts and window walls. It sets performance for strength, water penetration and air infiltration, and the NCC references it as the Deemed-to-Satisfy route for glazed assemblies. The glass is selected and installed to AS 1288, and the design wind pressure for a commercial building comes from AS/NZS 1170.2.
A window wall sits between floor slabs, so each floor's frame stops at the slab and the slab edge is covered separately. A curtain wall hangs off the slab edges and runs past them, so it covers the slab and carries its own perimeter fire and weather seals. The choice changes the cladding detail at every floor line, which is why we draw it with the cladding.
On our packages, we are. The sill tray, the head flashing and the lap between the window and the wall membrane are drawn on one set of shop drawings and installed by one contractor in sequence, so there is no gap in responsibility when the building is water tested or handed over. How the wall as a whole proves it is weatherproof is set out on the commercial cladding page.
Yes. NCC Section J sets energy targets for the building fabric, and the glazing is part of the wall calculation. The energy assessor or facade engineer sets the targets for the window, usually a total system U-value and a solar heat gain coefficient, and the frame and glass are chosen to meet them. External shading such as fins can count toward the same calculation.
Send the window schedule, the elevations, the Section J report and the facade engineer's design pressures. If we are pricing the cladding too, say so and we will price both together.
