Our work is on the new Royal Adelaide Hospital, on St Andrew's Hospital and on two health research buildings on North Terrace.
Delivered on health buildings: facade cladding (new Royal Adelaide Hospital) · concealed-fix CFC cladding and soffits with built-in display boxes (UniSA Health Innovation Building) · aluminium soffits on a frame we designed and tested (AHMS)
The fire rules are strict. A hospital of three or more storeys is Type A construction under the NCC, and its external walls must be non-combustible under clause C2D10. The new Royal Adelaide Hospital's facade was checked in the 2017 state cladding audit, and the Health Minister told Parliament it complied.
Services often run through the cladding zone. On the UniSA Health Innovation Building, a 14-storey cancer research tower, our concealed-fix CFC cladding and soffits carry backlit display boxes and access doors built into the cladding line.
Some of the work is engineering. On the Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences Building we designed, tested and installed an adjustable suspension frame that carries the wave-shaped aluminium composite soffit inside and outside the building. That was in 2017, on a compressed programme.

Questions
A Type A hospital needs non-combustible external walls under NCC clause C2D10. Each material is shown non-combustible by an AS 1530.1 test or is one the NCC deems non-combustible. Where a design falls outside the Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions, the fire engineer may ask for AS 5113 testing of the wall system.
Yes. On the UniSA Health Innovation Building the soffits carry backlit display boxes and access doors inside the cladding zone. On AHMS the core cladding has integrated lighting.
The new Royal Adelaide Hospital, St Andrew's Hospital, the UniSA Health Innovation Building and the Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences Building. The last two are research and teaching buildings.
